Dear Blackwell Families,                                                                               September 2008

Wow! Is it that time already?  Great to have you back!  Welcome! We hope your summer was a tremendously fun and safe one and that your student is excited to be starting school this week. 

Your PTSA board has already been hard at work to make your student’s “Back to School” this year a memorable one.  A huge THANK YOU to everyone who has already taken on committee chair positions and given us their time. 

There’s so much to look forward to! 

This fall we will be doing a Back to School Spaghetti Feed, a Fall Carnival, Skate King Nights and are offering several new language classes. We’ve several assemblies planned and of course, have our old favorites: Scholastic Book Fair, Used Book Fair, Manners Class, Art Class, Drama on Wednesdays, Super Sitters and the Sock Hop. 

You can be a part of life here in so many ways. 

Volunteer your time and support our fundraisers to keep these programs in place.  There are a host of opportunities to find the right time, place, and commitment for your talents.  Everyone doing just a little adds up to the wonderful Blackwell you have come to know and love.  Please check the front hall for our committee sign ups.  

What? No candy sales or auction??

 Our main fundraiser this year will be “Pass the Hat”, which you will hear about starting in mid-September.  Your participation in Pass the Hat is vital to the ongoing upkeep of the programs we provide your children.  Our approach here is simple. We need funds for these great programs and we will ask for what we need. No gimmicks or extra work on your part

 Your participation has made our school the great place it is. Our PTSA has had 100% membership for the past three years!  Our goal for 2007/2008 is again, 100% membership, one member for every student.  Our programs have a direct impact on your children.  Joining PTSA gives them the enriching educational experience they have come to love here at Blackwell!  Look for membership information in your first day packet and sign up today.
