PTSA General Meeting and Info Sessions

January 19

K – 4th grade parents and guardians will want to learn from Mr. Anderson how Blackwell will be directly affected by next year’s reconfiguration moves, such as projected classes for 2012-13 by grade level (and including possible split classes based on student population), building use and portables, special programs including preschool and Quest, and the district’s process for teacher transfers.

5th and 6th grade parents and guardians will move to a roundtable session with parents of middle-school aged children. This is not intended to replicate the Inglewood meetings, but will be a discussion of the general experiences of parents and students and sharing of suggestions and helpful strategies by current middle school parents.

Better Babysitters

February 2

Is your child ready to start babysitting?  A Better Babysitters class, sponsored by the Blackwell PTSA, will be offered on Thursday, February 2, 2012 in the Blackwell Elementary library from 12:30-5:00 p.m. Better Babysitters is a program offered through Seattle Children’s Hospital to train young people, ages 11-13 years, in basic babysitting skills. Those completing the course will be better prepared to provide a safer, more effective and positive babysitting experience. Graduates are awarded a certificate upon completion of the course.

Class cost is $40 per student (must be at least 11 years at time of class). If your child is interested in participating, complete the registration form and return it to school with a check made out to Blackwell PTSA.  Pre-registration is required.  Space is limited to 22 students, so register early!

Contact Nikki Balt with questions.
