About Your PTSA
Our mission is to support the education, health, and welfare of our children.
As part of the Washington State PTA, we are a nonprofit membership association bringing together the home, school, and community on behalf of our children. We influence legislation to promote better education in the school and improved safety on the way to school. We provide enrichment programs for children and parents through extracurricular activities and parenting classes. We make the school a better place to learn by purchasing, through funds members donate, computers, curriculum aids, and playground equipment.
In short, we bridge the gaps in our children's educational, health, and welfare needs when federal and state budgets come up short.
To acheive this mission, our goals are to
Support the education of our children. We offer education and grants for our teachers, curriculum and aids for our classrooms, and programs such as Read Naturally and Art Start for our children.
Promote community among Blackwell's students, staff, and parents. We offer social activities throughout the year, a student directory, and Blackwell apparel.
Serve the surrounding Blackwell community. We offer many ways of communicating school news to the surrounding community as well as service projects such as community saftey and vision and hearing screenings.
Encourage charitable giving. The Caring is Sharing committee offers several fundraisers throughout the year to many charitiable organizations, such as Heifer International and the Issaquah Food bank.
