Blackwell Elementary Math Club

Blackwell Elementary Math Club

Blackwell Math Club is for 4th and 5th grade students who are interested in Math competitions or are willing to challenge themselves to explore the Math competitions.

Math club is a fun and competitive activity. It is also a great way for students to develop intuitive thinking skills and learn new Math concepts. Students will not only learn new materials, but will apply their previous knowledge from school to fun and challenging problems. Furthermore, they will learn to view Math not as a set of rules or guidelines, but as an art. Math is a subject full of creativity and opportunity that many students can enjoy. Besides the academic benefits, Math club is also a great way to meet new people and develop teamwork skills.

Requirements: All registered students and families are expected to meet the following requirements.

  • Behavior. All students are expected to be respectful, cooperative, and following all the rules posted by the school.
  • Commitment.  All students are expected to commit extra effort besides weekly club practice to proactively study math.

  • Volunteering. The club is a 100% volunteer-run organization. Parent’s involvement is required. Long term volunteers are needed. We encourage each family to volunteer at least 1 or 2 times in meetings to help with attendance and organizing classroom. Parents are also expected to support kids’ Math study at home such as checking Math club homework, explain Math problems etc.

Math Competitions: The club plans to participate in the following 3 competitions. (*Interested families can download the previous competition questions from the following websites to do some tests. Please talk with your kids to make sure their participation interest.)
