Elizabeth Blackwell PTSA

Our mission is to support the education, health, and welfare of our children. As part of the Washington State PTA, we are a nonprofit membership association bringing together the home, school, and community on behalf of our children. We influence legislation to promote better education in the school and improved safety on the way to school. We provide enrichment programs for children and parents through extracurricular activities and parenting classes. We make the school a better place to learn by purchasing, through funds members donate, computers, curriculum aids, and playground equipment.

In short, we bridge the gaps in our children's educational, health, and welfare needs when federal and state budgets come up short. To acheive this mission, our goals are to obtain 100% membership so that we can:

Support the education of our children

  • We offer education and grants for our teachers, curriculum and aids for our classrooms, and programs such as Read Naturally and Art Start for our children.

Promote community among Blackwell's students, staff, and parents

  • We offer social activities throughout the year, a student directory, and Blackwell Spirit Wear.

Serve the surrounding Blackwell community

  • We offer many ways of communicating school news to the surrounding community. We undertake service projects and health related events such as Walk-to-School Month and vision and hearing screenings.

Give Back

  • The Caring is Sharing committee offers several opportunities throughout the year for Blackwell students and families to assist many charitable organizations, such as Sister Schools, Heifer International and the Issaquah Food Bank.
